I'm the co-founder of Platform Shoes Forum and Zoey's Room and want to continue to develop and support programs that engage women and girls creatively in STEM.
About Me:
I'm a a recognized expert in the design and development of thought-provoking and engaging educational content powered by virtual learning and new media applications.

Currently, I'm Research Director at MIT's Project New Media LIteracies, a research initiative based within MIT's Comparative Media Studies program, explores how we might best equip young people with the social skills and cultural competencies required to become full participants in an emergent media landscape and raise public understanding about what it means to be literate in a globally interconnected, multicultural world.

Before joining MIT, I acted as CEO of Platform Shoes Forum (PSF), a non-profit organization that researches and develops digital learning platforms for youth. I'm co-creator of PSF's model program Zoey's Room, a national online community for 10-14 year-old girls, encouraging their creativity through science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Zoey's Room has proven results in advancing STEM and Media Literacy skills.

I've received educational awards such as Leaders in Learning Award from Cable in the Classroom for our approach to learning through Zoey's Room and was selected as one of the National School Boards Association's "20 to Watch" educators in 2007.

I'm a graduate of Emerson College and have a Master of Fine Arts degree from Rockport College, a subsidiary of the International Film and Television Workshops.

Hi Erin,
I read what you wrote about you and would love to meet you. Unfortunately, it's not that easy. I'm a few thousand miles away...
I love that you are passionate about education and are actually able to do something with it.
I have my own vision about new learning environment for kids ages 10-14, but I am not limiting it to girls...
Would love to talk, at least... :-)
